China Eastern Airlines will commence flights between Shanghai and Stockholm from 22 June.
The direct service will operate three times weekly – on Monday, Thursday and Saturday – linking Shanghai Pudong International Airport with Stockholm's Arlanda Airport.
“China Eastern will play an important role in connecting Sweden to China and other well-established markets in Asia,” said Elizabeth Axtelius, director of aviation business at Swedish airport operator Swedavia. “There is great confidence in the Swedish air travel market and China Eastern’s investment in a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Shanghai is a clear sign of this.”
The Shanghai-based carrier will also begin flights between Xi-an and Vienna from 20 April. The year-round service will operate three times weekly with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, said the new route “provides targeted momentum for Austria as a business and tourism destination, with travellers in both directions benefiting equally.”
