A survey conducted by Travelport-owned Orbitz for Business has revealed that lost luggage is rarely a concern for the American business traveller, with 75% of those surveyed stating they have not lost luggage in the past year. Just 16% said they have lost items within the last year and 36% have never encountered the problem.
In fact lost luggage is last on the list of irritations involved in business travel, with just 4% of respondents citing it as their biggest annoyance. According to the survey flight delays and cancellations are the most common problems, followed by security queues which 22% said was their number one pet peeve.
Despite the large numbers of business travellers who only carry hand luggage, surprisingly few (12%) said the latest restrictions on size and liquids was top on their list of travel irritations. Other problems that seem to affect business travellers more than lost luggage also include completing expense reports after a trip (7%) and expensive room service (5%).
”Travellers today are well informed and want greater control over their travel experience,” said Orbitz Worldwide COO and general manager corporate travel solutions, Dean Sivley.
”We continue to proactively notify our customers about luggage restrictions and new TSA regulations, a critical care element our corporate travellers value and one we believe helps to reduce incidents including and beyond lost luggage.”
