British Airways has confirmed that with the opening of Heathrow”s Terminal 5 at the end of March 2008 it will expand its offerings at T3 in the central area. In fact T5, certainly up until the second satellite (C) opens in May 2010, will not be able to accommodate all of BA”s Heathrow operations. Presently the airline”s flights are spread over T1 and T4, with just the Miami services, leisure orientated, in T3. These will move to T5 on Thursday 27 March 2008.
From the end of June 2008 British Airways will shift its Barcelona, Helsinki, Lisbon, Madrid and Nice services plus all the GB Airways franchise flights from T1 to T3.
For the summer of 2008 the joint service agreement operation with Qantas to Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney, will continue from T4, moving to T3 and the central area at the start of the winter season.
T3 will then become the oneworld terminal and will be the home of just under 10% of British Airways Heathrow operations.
