British Airways has announced it will expand its services from London City airport following its ‘busiest ever summer’ at the hub.
The airline will introduce four additional Embraer E190 aircraft to its London City fleet during 2019, bringing its total at the airport to 26. BA says the additional planes will add nearly 20 per cent more seats and enable the launch of new routes.
From 11 November, BA will add a year-round service to Rome, as well as a fifth daily flight to Zurich on weekdays.
The carrier says Rome is the “first of a number of new routes and extra flights” to be announced for 2019.
BA has pledged to invest £4.5 billion in its services over the next five years, including the installation of wifi and power in every seat, a refit of 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new planes.
