BRITISH AIRWAYS has sprung a surprise with the announcement of the introduction of the first non-stop scheduled service between the UK and Luanda, capital of Angola. A weekly three class Boeing 777 service departs Heathrow 1900 on a Friday arriving 0425 local time with the first service on 1 November 2002. The return flight leaves at 2355 arriving back in the UK 0715 Sunday morning. BA, together with its franchise partners, now serves 30 African destinations in 21 countries. Angola, once a Portuguese colony, is in the same time zone as Great Britain. The timings are perfect for those who want either a quick or one week visit.
