Aeromexico is now serving the route between Mexico City and Barcelona with three flights per week, marking its fifth European destination.
The airline began serving Madrid in 1958, followed by London, Paris and Amsterdam, with more than 12,000 seats available on the routes every week.
The new flights are operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Mexico City at 1820, landing at 1240 the following day. Return services leave Barcelona at 1440 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving at 1935pm local time.
Flights are operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which now offers Aeromexico’s free messaging service to allow all passengers on board to send and receive text messages through WhatsApp, iMessage and Facebook Messenger at no cost.
Paul Verhagen, SVP of international sales and global channels strategy at Aeromexico, said: “The opening of this new route allows us to consolidate our presence in Europe, a market with which we set a trend over 60 years ago, becoming the first and still the only operator from Mexico in Europe. We are proud to be a leader in customer experience and service thanks to our modern fleet. In turn, Barcelona has responded wonderfully to our commitment to continue taking our customers where they want to go.”
