ANA has chosen its London ” Tokyo route to introduce what it claims to be the world”s largest airline seat. Measuring 76 inches x 34 inches it is 50% wider than ANA”s highly successful ”full flat seat”, which came into service in 1996 and at the time also a world”s first. Key date for the new seat is 1 December, which is also ANA”s 50th anniversary. Tokyo to Frankfurt, Paris, and New York will follow. Each seat offers complete privacy as cited by 75% of ANA”s top customers in a recent survey. However the centre pair of seats can be adjusted for passengers who wish to sit together. In order to accommodate the new seats, First Class on the airline”s Boeing 747s has been reduced from 14 to 10 passengers.
