ANA, All Nippon Airways, the Japanese carrier that in passenger number terms is one of the largest airlines in the world outside the US, plans to order around 45 Boeing 737s to replace its narrow body fleet of Airbus A320s and older-generation 737s. It says the new-generation 737s will lead to the eventual replacement of its single aisle fleet of 52 aircraft, comprising 25 A320s, two 737-400s and 25 737-500s, which are operated by ANA and subsidiary Air Nippon. ANA says that the 737 order will comprise an "estimated" 45 aircraft, mainly -700 variants. Deliveries are due to begin early in 2005. http://www.ana-europe.com
