PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT”S new International terminal, called A-West, is now open. It is served twice daily by British Airways from Heathrow, and daily by US Airways from both Gatwick and Manchester. The $550m terminal is a four-level, 800,000 square-foot facility with 13 new international gates, 26,000 square feet of concession space and expanded federal inspection facilities which should help with the inevitable queue at immigration. Plus some impressive aviation artwork. The new terminal joins with the existing Terminal A-East to create one massive international terminal complex serving 30 destinations in Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. In 2002, a record 3.2m international passengers used Philadelphia International Airport. This was a 10.7% increase from the previous year. http://www.phl.org
