Several thousand people have bought private Covid tests through approved providers to enable them to cut short their quarantine as part of the government’s test to release scheme.
The scheme lets travellers arriving in the UK to pay for a Covid test five days after their return and exit immediately from self-isolation on receipt of a negative result.
The number of approved test providers in the scheme, which faced challenges when it was launched on Tuesday with two providers withdrawing, has now been expanded to 13, with the addition of London-based Concepto Clinic and Qured.
However, another one of the original companies on the list – Medicspot – has now been taken off the list.
