Half of all hotel reservations will be made via mobile devices by 2017, according to hotel reservation firm HRS.
HRS’ booking data found business travellers usually book spontaneously while travelling, and 75 per cent of the bookings made via smartphone with HRS are for arriving on the same or next day.
“In the future, travellers will increasingly book hotels via smartphones, and mobile will be the dominating channel, said HRS CEO Tobias Ragge. “We expect that every other booking will be made via mobile devices in three years.”
HRS said in 2013 it doubled its percentage of mobile bookings compared to the previous year, with a 12 per cent increase.
