Key Travel, a specialist travel management company serving
the humanitarian, faith and academic sectors, has partnered with Expedia
Partner Solutions (EPS) to offer ‘carbon-neutral’ hotel rooms for business
travel.
In the new programme, when a Key Travel client books a hotel
through EPS, the two companies will pay to offset the carbon emissions of the
booking. Funds will go to Cool Effect, a non-profit based in San Francisco,
which will invest the money in verified carbon reduction projects around the
world.
According to Key Travel, the methodology for quantifying the
carbon footprint of hotel stays was developed in partnership with Greenview and
is based on the Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking Index of more than
20,000 properties worldwide.
