Kempinski has opened a beachfront hotel in Djibouti, 4km north of the city at Heron Bay and 9km from the airport. Djibouti lies off the Gulf of Aden and is bordered by Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia. The Djibouti Palace Kempinski opened its doors on 10 November with 177 rooms, an infinity pool, a 400-seat restaurant and wireless internet throughout.
A conference centre with an 1,100 capacity ballroom, meeting rooms and communication technology will be added to the property, as well as a further 123 rooms. When finished the hotel will also have a fitness centre and spa, a casino and a nightclub.
The hotel has been developed and built in 11 months by Nakheel Hotels and Resorts. 100 staff from 10 Kempinski Hotels have been flown over to the new property to make sure the five-star property opens to the right standard. 150 staff have been recruited locally.
From 20 November - 15 January rooms are offered at a 50% discount, and start from US$186 (”98).
