IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two new properties in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
The company will include Verno House Budapest as part of its Vignette Collection from summer 2023 under a franchise agreement. Voco Budapest is also due to debut in late 2023 under a management agreement.
Both properties will join IHG’s portfolio through a deal with BDPST Group, which is one of the largest upscale and luxury hotel owners and operators in Hungary.
Verno House Budapest opened on 15 December and next summer will join the Vignette Collection. The 50-room hotel also features a restaurant with bar, library plus a wellness area and gym.
Voco Budapest will feature 137 rooms when it opens in December 2023 following the refurbishment of an existing hotel.
Karin Sheppard, SVP, managing director, Europe, at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “Hungary is one of several growth areas across Europe for IHG and we are looking forward to working closely with BDPST Group to bring both brands to the forefront of Budapest’s flourishing hotel scene.”
IHG already has three properties in the city: InterContinental Budapest, Crowne Plaza Budapest and Holiday Inn – Budapest Budaors. Kimpton Budapest is also due to open in 2025, which will help to double the number of IHG properties in Budapest.
Istvan Tiborcz, owner of BDPST Group, said: “We are confident that this partnership will be prosperous for both parties as we will unlock tremendous synergies by working together. BDPST Group's mission is to create cultural values by opening these two properties and IHG is the right partner with whom to achieve our objectives.”
