Hotel firm IHG has announced that Theobalds Estate in the UK will become the first property to join its new Noted Collection brand of independent hotels.
The hotel company launched Noted Collection by IHG earlier this year as a new brand for independent properties in the premium hotel category. IHG is aiming to quickly build up the Noted Collection to more than 150 hotels globally over the next decade.
Theobalds Estate is an historic property in Hertfordshire, which was previously used as a royal residence in the 18th century. The hotel will undergo a major refurbishment before opening under the Noted Collection name in 2027.
Willemijn Geels, IHG’s vice president, development, Europe, said: “Signing the first Noted Collection by IHG hotel so soon after launch is a powerful early signal of the momentum we’re seeing for the brand — not only in our UK and Ireland market but across Europe and our wider EMEAA region.”
Theobalds Estate is owned by Surya Hotels, which has also signed a deal with IHG for Thatcher’s Hotel in Leatherhead, Surrey. This property will also be renovated before joining the Voco brand.
