IHG Hotels & Resorts is strengthening its presence in Spain and Portugal with the signing of 11 new properties across the two Iberian countries.
The new hotels are due to open over the next few years and include IHG brands such as Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Six Senses and Staybridge Suites.
One of the first to open will be Holiday Inn Sant Cugat on the outskirts of Barcelona, which is due to make its debut in June 2022.
Other properties in Spain include Holiday Inn Express Madrid Airport, Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Sestao and Holiday Inn Express Sevilla, which are all set to open in 2023.
Staybridge Suites Malaga is scheduled to follow in early 2024, while Hotel Indigo is also planned to open in Gibraltar.
New IHG properties in Portugal opening over the next few years will include Staybridge Suites Porto, Staybridge Suites Carcavelos, Six Senses Lisbon, Holiday Inn Express Porto and Holiday Inn Express Evora.

IHG has also appointed Javier de Villanueva Baygual as development director for Spain and Portugal to drive growth in the region.
