Australia’s TFE Hotels has announced plans to open its first UK apartment-style properties in the cities of Cambridge and Glasgow.
TFE, which already has hotels in continental Europe, said that two Adina-branded aparthotels, The Hobson Cambridge by Adina and The Wellington Glasgow by Adina, will open during the third quarter of this year.
Antony Ritch, TFE Hotels’ CEO, said this expansion to the UK was a “significant milestone in the hotel group’s global growth trajectory”.
“After more than two decades of successful growth across continental Europe, we’re also excited to work with partners in the UK to bring the Adina brand to two cities that reflect our values - vibrant, globally connected, and culturally compelling,” said Ritch.
“Europe is a real platform for growth for us as an organisation, and Cambridge and Glasgow as the ideal launchpads for our UK presence, offering strong demand across both leisure and corporate travel sectors.”
Hobson Cambridge by Adina will feature 56 units in a converted former police station, while The Wellington Glasgow by Adina offers 98 studio apartments.
TFE Hotels has also established a UK country office, led by Europe CEO Asli Kutlucan, as it moves into “one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets”.
The company already has aparthotels in Germany, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland and Hungary, as well as in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
“We see the UK as a high-potential market that complements our existing operations,” said Andrew Hunter, TFE’s London-based chief investment officer.
“Establishing a presence here enhances global visibility for our brands and allows us to better serve long-haul travellers from Asia-Pacific and North America, as well as intra-European guests seeking premium, apartment-style accommodation,” added Hunter.
