Dutch tech start-up Flowings is set to launch next week, with the promise of making private aviation more efficient, affordable and sustainable via a new booking platform that allows users to book the empty leg flights of private jets.
The Flowings platform allows users to search routes and directly book available flights, which can be return flights to the point of origin or onward flights to where the jet is booked, at a "competitive rate".
Users can subscribe to the platform and set personal preferences before searching for flights from private jet providers with discounts of “up to 75 per cent”. If the search input doesn’t result in any available flights, the company offers an ‘on demand’ service that allows users to directly contact the team.
Flowings founder and creator Floris van den Ende said: "With Flowings, the sharing economy is now also reaching the luxury segment. You can see the platform as the BlaBlaCar for private jets. It's a shame that so many planes fly empty, when there are plenty of people who want to book such a jet at a competitive rate.
According to the company, between 15 and 35 per cent of the 1.5 million private jet flights that take place across Europe annually are flown empty.
“Currently, a lot of money is just lying around; with Flowings, I bring supply and demand together,” van den Ende added.
The platform will be soft launched on 24 May at the EBACE aviation fair in Geneva.
