Independent hotel platform OYO is planning to add more than 50 properties to its UK portfolio in 2023 with a focus on cities such as London and Birmingham.
OYO already has more than 150 hotels across the UK, including 27 in London and 38 around the Midlands region. The India-based company also has its sights set on taking on properties in Leeds, Brighton and Plymouth this year.
Gautam Swaroop, CEO of OYO International, said: “We have witnessed a great deal of interest from hotel owners across the country owing to our industry-leading demand, revenue generation and management capabilities along with operational ease that OYO offers.”
Puneet Yadav, head of OYO UK, added that it had “seen strong demand” from small hotel owners in the UK to join the brand’s platform.
“We have doubled our business development effort with 30-plus hotels in advanced-stage negotiations to join OYO and we hope to bring more hotels on our platform in 2023," said Yadav.
Last year, OYO added 40 hotels in the UK to its platform which helped it to double revenue compared with 2021, as revpar (revenue per available room) increased by 50 per cent for hoteliers compared with the previous year.
Other developments being rolled out by OYO include automated self-check-in technology to help hotels to reduce staff costs and improve day-to-day operations.
