Marriott International has announced plans to bring its Fairfield by Marriott brand of hotels to Europe from 2023.
The midscale brand, which already has more than 1,200 properties, is planning to open four European properties in Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland and France from the second half of next year onwards.
Fairfield by Marriott is also to make its debut in the Middle East with two properties in Saudi Arabia set to make their debuts in 2025.
“We are thrilled to launch Fairfield by Marriott in Europe and the Middle East, continuing the growth of this trusted brand,” said Eric Jacobs, Marriott’s senior vice president and global brand leader for select brands.
“Fairfield is celebrated with a unique legacy in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. Built on principles of warmth, comfort, and simplicity, Fairfield hotels provide quality and reliability that travellers can look forward to globally.”
The first Fairfield by Marriott properties in Europe will be in the Danish capital Copenhagen and at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, which are both expected to open in the third quarter of 2023.
They will be followed in 2024 by Fairfield by Marriott Zug in central Switzerland and Fairfield by Marriott Bordeaux Train Station in the western French city.
The European Fairfield properties will be designed to “reflect the locale” of each hotel, with a decor “inspired by Scandinavian style”. The hotels’ public spaces will serve as flexible social spaces, alongside social market food and beverage outlets.
Satya Anand, president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, added: “We are excited to welcome travellers to the first Fairfield by Marriott hotels in Europe in Copenhagen and Amsterdam in 2023. The debut of the brand in Europe and the Middle East has been thoughtfully considered for each market.”
Fairfield by Marriott has ambitious expansion plans with more than 350 properties in its current development pipeline, which would add another 44,500 rooms to an existing stock of 122,000 rooms.
